How to automatically transcribe your audio or video files to text

Google Docs, short for Google Documents, is an awesome tool to do this work, but the transcription may take a while. What do we need to do on this one? Anyone that owns a Gmail account has a Google Docs account. The first option we’ll need to do, we’ll need to do a quick search for Google Docs on Google. com, and the first result that comes up is the Google Docs page. Just click on that and the new page that we load is the About page for Google Docs. Just select the option to go to Google Docs and this will prompt you to select from what document you want to begin from. For this video, I want to start from Blank Document. The only limitation to this process is that you need a very good, at least a fairly good internet connection to do this process. We want to leverage the voice typing tool in Google Docs. What I need to do, I need to select on Tools and then click on Voice Typing. This will help me in a way that when I play my audio file or video file, Google Docs will automatically transcribe what is being said in a video into text. I’ll navigate to where my file is and since I know where my file is and the file that I want to have Google Docs automatically transcribe, I’ll play it for you to listen, and please note that this is a very short file, therefore, it will just take a few seconds to do this. “Hello there. Welcome to lesson 4A, Medicare sup. . . “What you need to do for this to work is that you need to play your audio file first. Once you play the audio file, click on voice typing. See what I do. “Hello there. Welcome to lesson 4A, Medicare Supplement Plans also known as Medigap Plans. In this lesson, we will review the basics of Medigap Plans that you’ll learn today in class. If you have noted, I let the audio restart again to cover the section that had been missed when I started out the audio and the voice typing tool. There are only a few limitations to this process is that you need to do it online using the internet. Number two is that depending on the audio accent of the file that you have and the automatic power of transcription of Google Docs, you may need to do some punctuation which is a must, I believe, with any automation. Number two is that you need to correct the words that are not correct in the file, and finally, you need to capitalize anything that is around. Let’s review the audio and see what the text has to say for us. “Also known as Medi. . . Hello there. Welcome to lesson 4A, Medicare Supplement Plans also known as Medigap Plans. In this lesson, we will review the basics of Medigap Plans that you’ll learn today in class. At the end of our course, there will be a short quiz. Are you ready? Great, let’s get started. “From what we’ve seen from the transcript that Google Docs has automatically transcribed, it’s possible to appreciate that it has done a good job. It has about 70% accuracy on this audio file. I’d probably do the voice typing if I have short files with good accents but it’s a good tool to leverage to increase your speed of doing this kind of work and it will automatically help you beat deadlines if you’re doing work for a client with short files, 5-minute or10-minute files. But always test it out and see if you get a client or if you want to use it for your own purposes. You might probably have got just this one tool that can help you save time, save money, and increase your efficiency in delivering your transcripts. Thank you so much for watching this video and until next time please subscribe, share this video, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you and hearing your feedback. Thank you.
